Why I built it
I wanted to know what my portfolio was exposed to
I've managed my own portfolio since 2021. Most investing apps either try to predict prices or show you a chart of what already happened. Neither tells you how concentrated you are, how your holdings move together, or how much the whole thing could fall in a bad year.
I had also tried the prediction route myself, building stock forecasting models during an internship. They looked convincing on past data and fell apart going forward. So Corvo measures risk instead of making predictions.
What it does
The math a wealth manager would run, then two or three concrete moves
You add your holdings. Corvo checks them every day and runs the full risk picture: Monte Carlo simulation across 10,000 fat-tailed paths, Value at Risk, drawdown, Sharpe ratio, alpha and beta, correlation, and benchmarks against the S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Dow.
Then an AI advisor that knows your exact positions turns all of that into specific actions, like how to bring a 67% tech concentration down. There is a daily brief, what-if testing before you rebalance, price alerts, and one-click PDF reports.
Decisions that mattered
- 01
The math runs in its own service
The risk engine is a separate Python and FastAPI service using NumPy and SciPy, so the heavy numerical work doesn't slow down the app people actually click around in.
- 02
Advice depends on the account
A Roth IRA and a taxable brokerage account need different advice. Corvo knows each portfolio's account type, so it won't suggest tax-loss harvesting inside a Roth.
- 03
Security audit before growth
I ran a full security and reliability audit: the advice endpoints verify who you are from a signed token instead of trusting the request, and every user's data is locked to that user at the database level.
